As a party we are proposing a game changing transformation in health, housing, transport and a green economy.
We will fund improvements by increasing taxes on the wealthiest people creating a fairer, greener tax system. We will raise tens of billions of pounds by asking super-rich multimillionaires and billionaires to pay more, equalising the treatment of income from work and wealth, and ensuring top earners pay National Insurance on their higher incomes.
Speaking to Radio 4’s Today Programme, Adrian said: “The Green Party is the only party that’s being honest in saying that we are going to have to put that investment in, move towards more of a European norm in terms of the levels of investment into our health service, into our housing system, into the transition to a green economy with all the benefits that will bring for people… The Institute for Fiscal Studies has been clear that the next Government will either need to cut public spending or increase taxes, And so Labour and the Conservatives have a bit of a conspiracy of silence here… The Green Party is saying let’s invest in real hope and real change for the future.”
